How To Focus On Homework: 5 Interesting Tricks
We’ve all been there: you have so much work to do, but you just can’t seem to be able to concentrate. Especially if you do not like the topic, you can be easily distracted by your friends, the computer or your phone. In order to be successful, you need to fulfill your duties in the right way, and you can’t do this if you get more and more bored with every second. Well, there are some interesting methods to make you focus on your homework.
- Color therapy.
The psychologists use it mainly for people who are depressed, but this works just as fine for you. The trick is to know what colors to use in your job and around you. If your room is painted in a sad, depressive color and the light is not good, sure enough you will feel tired from the first moments. Green proves to be one of the best colors to help you maintain your concentration. To make your work more fun, use green pencils to underline your writing.
- Use scents.
A really fresh, subtle perfume can keep you awake and working while a strong and sweet one will make you feel distracted and probably hungry. Lemon, grapefruit, mint or vanilla, any of these will help you in the moments you feel your energy level is low. You can light up a scented candle or use naturally dry pieces of fruit in the corners of your room.
- Divide your homework.
When you have in front of you a long and dull piece of text, you feel discouraged from the beginning. If you split it into several small pieces, you will feel an accomplishment every time you finish one of them. You can take a small break between pieces to gather your thoughts.
- Find out when you are more productive.
There are some students that can write perfectly fine at 7 a.m., while others can’t even wake up at that time. Each one of us functions differently, and we are more active and effective at a different time. If you feel that you get a sudden outburst of energy in the evening, maybe you should try writing in that time.
- Get a homework partner.
When you are doing an activity with another person, you feel a certain urge to get in a competition. You can make a friendly challenge or motivate and help each other until you finish. Try not to get distracted by conversations. You have plenty of time after you finish.
